Symposium Provides Knowledge for KRSBI Participants

Before Indonesian Robot Contest (KRI) 2015 on 12-13 June 2015, participants would have debriefing. One of them is symposium for participants of Indonesia Soccer Robot Contest (KRSBI). The symposium would be conducted on Thursday (11/6) at 8 am – 1 pm at Building A.R. Fachruddin A, floor 5. “It raised a theme of “The 3rd Indonesian Symposium on Robot Soccer Competition”. The symposium would comprise of national seminar and paper presentation dealing with soccer robot,” stated Ir. Aris Widyo Nugroho, S.T., Ph.D. as the chief Symposium in an interview on Wednesday (10/6) at secretariat room of KRI 2015, UMY.

Aris continued that there would be two seminars discussing robot in the symposium. The seminars would be delivered by two keynote speakers, namely Prof. Dr. Ir. Mauridhi Heri Purnomo, M.Eng. discussing Visual Emotion Recognition, and Prof. Dr. Adang Suwandi discussing Knowledge Growing on Cognitive Robot. “The discussions are regarding technology development in robotic field. The preparation has been 80% and today we would have a rehearsal,” he inserted.

There have been 26 papers: 11 compulsory papers of KRSBI participants and 15 papers of researchers and students. “26 papers are from University of Tadulako, 10 November Institute of Technology (ITS), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Gajah Mada University (UGM), University of Ahmad Dahlan (UAD), Politeknik Negeri Batam, UKM Robotic Teknokrat Lampung, Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya (PENS), University of Brawijaya, University of Tarumanegara, Maranatha Christian University, Adhi Guna Robotech Club (AGRC), University of Dian Nuswantor, Sekolah Teknik Elektro dan Informatika (STEI ITB), UMY, and Satya Wacana Christian University,” he mentioned.

Aris elucidated that the papers have passed the selection and review step before being published and written on proceeding. The paper review was carried out by the judges. There were 6 topics of the paper, namely Locomotion, Control System, Data Communication, Vision and Image Processing, System Architecture, Algorithm and Intelligence, and System Applications,” he asserted.

Since there would be a number of presented papers, “the symposium would be undertaken in 6 rooms: 3 room in the fifth floor and the others in the fourth floor. Nevertheless, the main seminar would be in one place. There have been 90 participants of symposium that 49 of them are KRSBI participants,” he informed.

Aris told that there are 3 main reasons of organizing the symposium. First, it aims at documenting the participants’ achievement. Second, it points at sharing knowledge of robotic technology development. Third, it is to share the knowledge of robotic development. “Thus, it could be stated that the symposium is related one another.  For instance, when KRSBI participants have coined a robot using a method, another researcher might have the other idea to use another method to evolve the robot. If it is noticed from the process, it is connected one another. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct the symposium, particularly to enhance knowledge of sciences,” he inserted.
