Many parties congratulated Department of Communication Science of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) for achieving ‘A’ accreditation officially announced by National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (BAN-PT) on the Decree No. 2016/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/VII/2018 on Tuesday (31/7). Nevertheless, the Department of Communication Science always encourages all department members to enhance quality in all sectors.

Head of External Quality Assurance Office of UMY Drs. Mujiyana, S.H., M.Sc. praised the department for the accreditation. “Congratulations Faculty of Social and Political Science, especially Department of Communication Science, on maintaining ‘A’ accreditation for the second time,” expressed Mujiyana at Tasyakuran Hasil Akreditasi on Friday (10/8).

He also informed that gaining ‘A’ accreditation means supporting a long-term program of Rector of UMY. “I hope that the Department of Communication Science can retain the accreditation and be better. For B-accredited departments can obtain ‘A’ accreditation because the accreditation will turn UMY to be better,” added Mujiyana.

Meanwhile, Dean of Faculty of Social and Political Science of UMY Dr. Titin Purwaningsih, S.IP., M.Sc. advised all of the department members to work harder and not be complacent due to the achievement. “I wish that the achievement could be a challenge to develop ourselves so that we can be better. Besides, recommendations from assessors to the Department of Communication Science can be applied to improve academic processes,” she declared.

Titin also thanked all alumni of the Department of Communication Science for assisting the department to maintain the accreditation. “I personally appreciate all alumni who contributed to succeed the accreditation visit. Alumni’s attendance successfully impressed the assessors,” told Titin.
