Students of Faculty of Economics (FEB) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogykarta (UMY) won the National Economic Trading Competition. The students associated in a Capital Market Study Club (KSPM) became the winner of the competition conducted by University of Katolik Atma Jaya on Friday (17/1).
The students were Al Resky (a Management student of batch 2014) and Bagus Ardyan Putra (an Economics student of batch of 2015). In an interview on Saturday (18/11), Resky, as the team chief, told that the competition brought ‘The Spirit of Investment and Prepare Your Future Investment and a Champion of Stock Trading Competition’ as the theme. It was the first competition organized by Economics Department Student Association of University of Atma Jaya Jakarta.
“From the theme, we examined one of the developing companies, P.T. Waskita Karya. We employed a top down analysis (fundamental) including macroeconomics, an industrial analysis, and a company analysis. Besides, we also used a technical analysis, chart analysis, and indicator analysis including On Balance Volume (OBV) to combine price and volume,” told Resky.
He also informed that the KSPM team has participated in many competitions. “Alhamdulillah, we could be the winner in a national competition. To prepare for the competition, we had discussions with the KSPM team and our supervisor. The competition was comprised of several rounds. First, we had a trading online qualification with 30 teams from other universities. Second, top 13 teams presented their paper that the judges assessed our analysis and presentation,” mentioned Resky.
He said that the winner of the competition was UMY, the first and second runner up were teams of University of Katolik Atma Jaya Jakarta. “I wish that the KSPM team could join other competitions and become the winner. I suggest all students to always be vigorous to enhance their soft skills and hard skills. Indeed, they should save their money through stock investment from now on,” he asserted.
