Sri Atmaja P. Rosyidi, S.T., M.Sc.Eng., Ph.D., P.E. dan M. Basrie (the Marketing Director of BUMIDA) signed MoU of cooperation of accident insurance for UMY’s students.

Supporting student facilities, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) carries out cooperation with a domestic institute. It is not cooperation in academic aspect as the previous ones, yet it is cooperation of providing accident insurance for UMY’s students. The insurance cooperation would firstly be given to 5600 students of UMY, academic year 2014/2015, and the next insurance would be provided to students of academic year 2015/2016.

The Vice Chancellor III of UMY, Sri Atmaja P. Rosyidi, S.T., M.Sc.Eng., Ph.D., P.E., in his remark, stated that the insurance would be provided since a lot of student activities were often conducted either at university or outside university. “We look for a partner to assure students’ prosperity. Besides cooperating with the BUMIDA, we have already provided DSM (Student Health Fund), indeed. Nevertheless, it is only for medical treatment and outpatients. Thus, we seek another partner to cover student needs but medical treatment and outpatients,” he stated after signing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UMY and PT BUMIDA Bumiputera 67 represented by M. Basrie (the Marketing Director of BUMIDA). This MoU signing was conducted in the office lobby of university head, Building A.R. Fachruddin A, UMY, on Monday (29/12).

Sri Atmaja also conveyed that, for the insurance payment system, students were not necessary to pay by themselves to the party of insurance provider (PT BUMIDA) since the insurance payment had already included in tuition fee of each semester. “The payment is counted in tuition fee of each semester. Therefore, it would not be burdening the students and they need not pay by themselves to the party of insurance provider,” he told.

A similar statement was uttered by the Managing Director of Bank BPD DIY, Drs. Bambang Setiawan. He argued that, if the insurance payment has already been paid along with tuition fee of each semester, it would not be saddling the students since they did not need to add their living cost each month. He was glad about the cooperation because he thought that it was a remarkable penetration in academic field.

“We are very grateful for the agreement of this cooperation. Moreover, it is an incredible penetration in student area because they obtain not only good academic services but also safety guarantee through the insurance. Hence, students would be composed in learning, and their parents could be unruffled to let their children study here,” he conveyed.

Besides, the Marketing Director of BUMIDA, M. Basrie, mentioned that the insurance cooperation was firstly conducted entirely for students. He argued that all student activities either in college or outside college had automatically been covered by the payment. Accident insurance providing would be prevailed for UMY’s students who get accident wherever and whenever. “All student activities either in college or outside college had automatically been covered by the payment. If UMY’s students get accident either in the university area, in their hometown, out of town, or abroad, it has been counted in the insurance cooperation,” he explained.

Basrie also conveyed that the first inheritor was handed over to UMY. Hence, if an accident took place in a range time of 1 day 24 hours, the accident insurance would be given to the first inheritor, and then it was offered to the inheritor or guardian of the accident student. M. Basrie added that the insurance cooperation was firstly conducted entirely on behalf of university. “We commonly provide insurance on behalf of faculty. It would be the pride of ours, UMY, and Bank BPD DIY mediating this cooperation. Thus, students and their parents would perceive safe to send their children here,” he mentioned.

Furthermore, details of the accident insurance are sympathetic care of passing away because of accident accounted 20 million rupiahs, permanent physical defect due to accident accounted 24 million rupiahs, hospitalizing because of accident for 7 days maximally accounted 300 thousand rupiahs, funeral cost accounted 2 million rupiahs, and temporary physical defect accounted 2 million rupiahs.
