Three Lecturers of Faculty of Law of UMY Perform a Community Service Program at Rumah Tahfidz

Everyone is demanded to have new skills to compete at work. Noticing the fact, three lecturers of Faculty of Law of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) performed a community service program at Rumah Tahfidz Aqwamu Qila, Grojogan, Banguntapan, Bantul. They have conducted training in catering business development since March 2019.

Chief of the community service team Ahdiana Yuni Lestari, S.H., M.Hum. stated that the program provided valuable knowledge for students at the Rumah Tahfidz since most of them are orphaned and from an underprivileged family.

“There are 43 people at the Rumah Tahfidz. They were students and pupils. Their main activity is memorizing Al-Qur’an. As most of them are orphaned and underprivileged, the managers of the Rumah Tahfidz and donors take care of their living expenses. They are expected to be independent after graduating from the Rumah Tahfidz. Thus, religious education is not sufficient and they need to have skills,” explained Ahdiana in an interview on Monday (15/4).

Ahdiana along with his colleague, Endang Heriyani, S.H., M.Hum. and Prihati Yuniarlin, S.H., M.Hum. undertook the community service from January to March 2019. She told that the training was given because the Rumah Tahfidz Aqwamu Qila often receives catering orders. Seeing the potential, Ahdiana believed that the program will be beneficial after they graduate.

“The students often get order on Saturdays and Sundays, but the catering has not been handled professionally. Hence, they need skills to manage it,” she added.

Besides, Ahdian, Endang, and Yuniarlin also provides kitchen sets for the students so that they can become more professional.
