Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) possesses a high target to gain research grants from Directorate for Research and Community Service (DRPM). To achieve the target, Office of Research, Publication, and Community Service (LP3M) of UMY conducted intensive supervision and preparation.
Head of Research Division of the LP3M of UMY Dr. Dyah Mutiarin, M.Si. explained that the targeted number of research proposals submitted to the national grant competition is twice as many as the number of previous year proposals. “This year, thirty five proposals were funded so that we target at least seventy proposals get grants,” declared Dyah after a preliminary meeting of ‘Penyempurnaan Simlitabmas’ of UMY on Monday (8/4) at Cavinton Hotel, Yogyakarta.
To reach the target, Dyah informed that the LP3M of UMY has a concept and programs for 263 lecturers to write their research proposal. The programs comprise of training and motivation training.
“First, we prepare for the concept of how to handle grantee candidates, beginning from substantive and technical preparation. We are now gearing up for the substantive one.
Dyah also explained that several barriers hamper the program, but her team attempts to solve them. “Some researchers are lack of motivation to participate in the research grant competition. Some lecturers also get little information of the grants,” she mentioned.
The intensive supervision program is conducted for a year since the lecturers, who will do research, are expected to accomplish all of their preparation in 2020.
