Two Students of IPIEF Perform a Credit Transfer Program in China

Two students of International Program for International Economics and Finance (IPIEF) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakart (UMY) of batch 2014, namely Ikhwan Victhori and Alfaina Zia Inayati, are going to join a transfer credit program at SIAS International University, Henan, Zhengzhou, People’s Republic of China. Both students had a pre-departure with Dean of Economics and Business Dr. Nano Prawoto, M.Si at Dean’s office on Thursday (16/2).

In an interview, Alfiana expressed, “Alhamdulillah, I am grateful for having an occasion to study aboard. This is a new experience for me. I hope this experience could motivate other students to study overseas.”

Ikhwan and Alfaina were accepted as participants of student exchange program conducted by Office of Cooperation of UMY. They are going to take a number of courses which are related to and similar to courses at their major at UMY. “Besides, we are obliged to take a Mandarin class. We are also going to learn Chinese culture and promote Indonesian culture,” Alfaina mentioned.

Additionally, International Relations Office send three other students, namely two students of Language Education Faculty, and one students of International Program of Government Affairs and Administration (IGOV). Before departing to China on Friday (17/2), they have done a lot of preparation. “The preparation is dealing with health, materials, knowledge, and cultural performance because we are on behalf of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), UMY, and Islam. We also had pre-departure orientation from the IRO for three days that there was a sharing session from alumni joining student exchanges,” Ikhwan told.

The student exchange participants previously passed a credit transfer program organized by the IRO. “First, they submitted CV and an academic transcript. Second, they had an interview selection. Then, the IRO announced who passed the program. Afterwards, we did medical check-up, made a passport and visa,” Alfaina informed.

Meanwhile, Dean of the FEB of UMY Dr. Nano Prawoto advised the students to always make this institution, and obey the rules when they study overseas. “Please keep your health, be active in joining organizations, and show your good behavior representing our university. I wish that this program will benefit you and the IPIEF,” he hoped.
