After welcoming University Technology Malaysia (UTM) on Monday (14/9) to follow up MoU, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) greeted a field trip of University Malaysia Pahang (UMP) on Wednesday (16/9). There were 18 students and 2 staffs of UMP joined the field trip. “This trip aims at prioritizing student mobility like raising awareness and solidarity among students of UMY and UMY,” conveyed Nasrul Salim Pakheri as a staff at Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in an interview in Stadium General of Engineering Faculty of UMY.
He continued that the field trip also pointed at having cooperation with students and university experts at UMY as well as interweaving good relationship between both universities through sharing knowledge and raising awareness of students of UMY and UMP. “Raising students’ volunteerism is essential to grow their awareness among human beings. For instance, when a disaster occurred in Malaysia, UMY’s students can send volunteers and vice versa. The other similar activities may also enhance their self-awareness,” he added.
The other cooperation between both universities was research development. “The other aspects to be fostered are knowledge and education. For example, there is a work exhibition conducted by students of UMY and UMP. Nevertheless, the crux is to deal the previous MoU of UMY and UMP.
Moreover, this event was expected to reinforce the relationship between both universities to have the other cooperation. “The cooperation can focus on not only academic aspects but also activities. This field trip, in fact, is also with the purpose of preparing mental of UMP’s students at workplace and creating other occasions as encourage students to learn other countries,” he told.
It was an honor of UMY, particularly Faculty of Engineering, to broaden cooperation with overseas universities. “It is a follow-up flied trip since UMY’s partied came to UMP to undertake MoU, but this trip also concerns with student mobility,” stated Anna Nur Nazilah Chamim, S.T., M.Eng. in an interview when welcoming the field trip.
Anna inserted, “When we visited UMP, we had short courses and got a certificate. Thus, we also provided a seminar dealing with Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) by Widyasmoro, S.T., M.Sc., a lecturers of Electrical Engineering of UMY.”
