With the achievements it received and the increase in rankings, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) ins on the spotlight of many parties, especially in the world of education. This time, UMY received visitors from Law Science School (STIH) and Economic Science School (STIE) Lamaddukkelleng, Wajo, South Sulawesi on Friday (6/9) in the KH. Ibrahim Building’s Amphiteater, UMY Central Campus.
The STIH and STIE Lamaddukkelleng’s visit to UMY is to find out what UMY has done to get the achievements and increase their rank. STIH and STIE Lamaddukkelleng sent 153 of their members to UMY. Both institutions are under the same foundation, namely Yayasan Pengembangan Sumberdaya Insani. After the welcoming ceremony from UMY, the group from the schools were divided into two to hear information from the different science studies.
The dean of UMY’s Faculty of Law, Dr. Trisno Raharjo, S.H., M.Hum stated that the Faculty of Law requires its students to have 75% attendance rate to fulfill their grading. “We support the students not only in the learning process, but also in campus organizations such as the Student Activity Unit (UKM), because we will give points that will accumulate for their seminar. They are only allowed to have their seminar if they have 200 points, so our students should be active in campus activities to train other skills. If the campus activities clash with the classes, UMY and especially the Faculty of Law will help solve the clash because it is part of learning outside of academics,” he stated.
Trisno added that the Faculty of Law has courtrooms designed for any court sessions. For example, if the court involved a child, the room will be designed like a playground. “In the future, all courtrooms will have an excerpt of An-Nisa verse 123 about justice that reads ‘O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives. Whether one is rich or poor, Allah is more worthy of both. So follow not personal inclinations, lest you be unjust. And if you distort your testimony or refuse to give it, then indeed Allah is ever, with what you do, Acquainted,'” Trisno added.
“We also applied an online class system through e-learning. Therefore, the students don’t have to go to campus to attend class and can access it online on a time set by the lecturers. However, this system does not cover all the meetings, only a quarter of them, because religious classes cannot be done online, and need interaction,” he closed. (ads)
