UMY and UMM Sign MoU with Vital Strategies

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) and Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang (UMM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vital Strategies, Friday (06/11) yesterday. This memorandum of understanding was signed as a form of collaboration between the two universities and the non-profit organization that concerns the environment and health sector.

The MoU signing ceremony was held at the Rectorate Lobby, AR Fachruddin A Building, UMY Central Campus and witnessed by the leadership and deans of the faculties at UMY. The cooperation between UMY and Vital Strategies itself is mediated by Muhammadiyah Steps, formerly known as Muhammadiyah Tobacco Care Center (MTCC).

In his speech, UMY Rector, Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P., IPM., Explained that through the signing of the MoU on community empowerment, he hopes that it will become an effort to improve community welfare through health improvement programs, community service, and food security. “Hopefully this becomes a projection that higher education can drive social welfare,” added Gunawan.

On the same occasion, Enrico Aditjondro, Associate Director for Advocacy, Policy, and Communication for Vital Strategies revealed the collaboration between his organization and Muhammadiyah, especially UMY and UMM, began in 2016 at Code River. “There are so many potentials that we can explore from this collaboration. We are honored to be able to cooperate with UMY and UMM, and hopefully we can continue to work together,” he added. (ays)
