UMY Civic Engineering Wins International Accreditation Grant

The Civic Engineering study program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) received an international accreditation facilitation for the IABEE (Indonesian Accreditation Board for Engineering Education) accreditation program. This is based on a letter from the Ministry of Education and Culture Directorate General of Higher Education no. 1167 / E2 / TU / 2020 issued in early June 2020. This accreditation grant is a form of government facilitation to help prepare study programs in preparing documents to enter an intended international accreditation program.

The dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Jazaul Ikhsan, ST., MT., Ph.D when contacted by UMY Public Relations (5/6) revealed that the Civil Engineering study program fulfilled the criteria needed to apply for this accreditation program. “The curriculum, teaching and learning process, and also the assessment of learning achievements in the Civil Engineering study program are in accordance with OBE (Outcome Based Education). The most important thing is the quality of education that must be maintained if this accreditation submission is accepted,” he added.

According to Jazaul, the accreditation that was given by the government is based on several assessment criteria, namely the university’s commitment to continue to improve the quality of its education so that it can be equal at the international level, complete administrative requirements, and evaluation and standardization of education quality. Furthermore, this grant led to the registration of Civil Engineering study programs to enter the international accreditation system.

Furthermore, Jazaul added that the Civil Engineering study program has been preparing for quite a long time. “We actually have made preparations such as a curriculum review since 2 years ago and we still have to go through a long process after this. Hopefully, this accreditation submission is successful. If you lreceive international accreditation, it means that the quality of teaching and learning at the Civil Engineering study program is at par with international standards.” he concluded. (ays)
