Communication Studies (IK) Study Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) plans to launch the International Program of Communication Studies (IP-COS). This program will begin in the 2020/2021 academic year. IP-COS is ready with online-based learning.
This international program focuses in the field of public relations (PR). This program is an international program launched by UMY Communication Studies Program to support the vision of internationalization of UMY.
Previously, the Communication Studies program at UMY received A-level accreditation by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) through Decree (SK) number 2016 / SK / BAN-PT / Akred / S / VII / 2018 on July 31, 2018. This proves that UMY Communication Studies Program is able to compete with other universities.
The Dean of the Political Sciences Faculty Dr. Titin Purwaningsih SIP MSi stated the launch of IP-COS is very important. “UMY has become a world-class university that can compete with others. IP-COS complements the international programs that already exist in the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences to answer the needs of communication experts in the 4.0 era, ” said Titin.
The lecturer in charge of IP-COS, Dr. Yeni Rosilawati SIP SE MM stated that IP-COS UMY had several advantages. “Among them, the curriculum we use is based on competence, competent teaching staff, internship opportunities in multinational companies, and we give students the opportunity to participate in student exchanges to various countries,” said Yeni.
Prospective new students can register on the IP-COS program through various channels of achievement, such as the National Final Examination (PNUAN), Acceptance through Student Achievement (PSB), and regular tests such as Paper Based Test (PBT) or Computer Based Test (CBT) which will be provided by UMY in the new academic year.
