Lecturers of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) take concern on health personnel service, especially for nurses. Hence, two lecturers of UMY, namely Iswanto and Adhianty Nurjanah, performed community service in Community Health Center (Puskesmas) Sewon I, Bantul. The community service was assisted by Electromedical team of STIKES PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta, namely Abdul Latif, Ipin Prasojo, Nia Maharani, and Fitri Anindiyahadi. The team provided a medical tool called nurse call and conducted a workshop on Excellent Customer Service on Tuesday (20/3).
According to Iswanto, besides teaching, a lecturer should perform a community service in society. He said that UMY has contributed to provide a nurse call which functions as a nurse-caller when a patient needs assistance so that hopefully the nurses can rush to the patient immediately.
Moreover, Adhinaty explained that the improvement of nurses’ capacity is needed to perform an excellent service. Therefore, the team conducted a workshop on Excellent Customer Service for all nurses in the community health center.
Meanwhile, Head of Community Health Center of Sewon I dr. Anastasia Endar Widyaningsih warmly welcomed the cooperation between the community health center and UMY. She was grateful for the community service which provides not only physical assistance but also a soft-skill assistance to support the nurses. “The community service can help nurses improve their skills serving all patients of the community health center,” she ended.
