UMY Constructs the Second Housing Area to Ensure Welfare of the Staffs and Lecturers

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta build a housing area, named Mentari Elok 2, to ensure welfare of the staff and lecturers. On Monday (25/9), Rector of UMY Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P. did a groundbreaking ceremony in Mancasan, Ambarketawang, Gamping, Sleman, Yogyakarta. It was the second housing area after Mentari Elok 1 constructed by UMY.

Chairperson of Cooperative of UMY Ahmad Ma’ruf, M.Si. stated that UMY is responsible for taking care of its employees’ well-being such as a need of decent housing. “Thus, this facility will enhance their working performance,” he told.

Ma’ruf informed that it is a middle-class housing area and is managed by the Cooperative of UMY so that there is not any advantages taken by this organization. “This housing area will consist of 25 housing units prioritized for permanent staffs and lecturers,” he added.

Indeed, Dr. Ir. Gatot Supangkat, M.P. wished the construction can bring good impacts. “I hope this construction could run well and strengthen relationship among UMY and Mancasan people,” he expressed.

Rector of UMY Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P. also expected that the building can get blessing from Allah. “We wish that UMY could found other housing areas since someone has offered me his land,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, Head of Mancasan Slame welcomed the construction and hope it runs well. “I thank UMY for being willing to be a part of Mancasan. I wish that the housing residents will be able to mingle with the community, can take care of this village together, make UMY proud, and can achieve the goal of Muhammadiyah as mentioned on Al-Maidah verse 2 telling about helping in goodness. If UMY needs to expand the housing area, UMY parties can communicate to the community,” he declared.

Besides, the groundbreaking ceremony was also attended by representatives of BPD Syari’ah.
