After conducting the cooperation with University of Khon Kaen for 10 years, UMY now continues the cooperation with one of the oldest universities in Thailand. This cooperation focuses on exchanges of lecurers, students, research collaboration, and seminar participations particularly for undergraduate students of Faculty of Social and Political Sicience (FISIPOL) and Jusuf Kalla School of Government (JKSG) UMY to Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Khon Kaen.
According to the Dean of FISIPOL UMY, Ali Muhammad, S.IP, M.A., Ph.D, in the office of Public Relation of UMY on Thursday (31/12), stated that the cooperation was also dealing with conducting transfer credit program. This program was for students of FISIPOL, particularly the 3rd or 5th semester students of International Class of Governmental Study (IGOV) and students of JKSG. “This transfer credit program would be conducted in January or February 2015. Besides IGOV’s students, this program is also for post-graduate students of JKSG. They would study there for one semester in Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Khon Kaen,” he conveyed.
Ali Muhammad explained that it was the first time the cooperation with University of Khon Kaen in student exchange. UMY and University of Khon Kaen peviously carried out student exchange of Medical Faculty. “The cooperation has been held for 10 years, and it is the first time being expanding through conducting student exchange between FISIPOL and JKSG of UMY and Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences,” he expounded.
Selected students of the credit transfer program, Ali continued, would be free from tuition fee for one semester. Thus, the students would just spend their money for living cost, accomodation, and others. “We would bear the tuition fee, so that they only need to provide living cost, accomodation, and other personal needs,” he told.
Moreover, the MoU signing of the cooperation between FISIPOL and JKSG UMY and Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Khon Kaen University conducted on the 24th of December 2014 in University of Khon Kaen. The MoU signing was immediately carried out by the Dean of FISIPOL UMY, Ali Muhammad, S.IP, M.A., Ph.D, the Directore of Magister Program of UMY, Dr. Achmad Nurmandi, M.Sc, and the Dean of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Khon Kaen, Associate Professor Dr. Kulthida Tuamsuk.
