Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta in collaboration with the Communication Science Laboratory (IK Lab) held a UMY Film Scholarship. The activity, which is one of the agenda of the 39th anniversary celebration of UMY, is aimed at junior and senior high school students. In this UMY Film Scholarship, participants were given a workshop on film production and TV programs. After the workshop, the participants will conduct production practices and the results will be competed and aired at the screening activities at the end of March.

The UMY Film Scholarship for junior high schools was held on Sunday (23/2) at the Communication Science Laboratory, Ki Bagus Hadikusumo Building, UMY Central Campus. In this activity, junior high school students from various schools in the city of Yogyakarta were given a workshop on TV program production. The material, which was given by the Communication Science Laboratory Team and UMY Communication Studies Lecturer, Muhammad Muttaqien, included techniques and tips on producing TV programs. “Later, the participants will have their work displayed at the screening. Not only that, it is hoped that the participants’ knowledge will also broaden their minds about the world of film production, especially TV programs, “Muttaqien said when interviewed after giving the workshop material.

The workshop was divided into three different sessions for three groups. After the workshop, each group shared the role of being a host, cameraman, floor director, and program director, and then independently produced TV programs. One participant, Debby admitted that this activity was very enjoyable and increased her knowledge and interest to enter the world of film production.

Hopefully, the UMY Film Scholarship activity that was held for the first time would continue in the following years as part of the UMY Milad series. The activity which was held to enliven UMY 39th Anniversary also aimed to promote UMY to prospective students. (ays)
