Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) established a ‘Book Store UMY’ in February 2016 located at UMY Boga. Vice Chancellor I of UMY, Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P. informed that 79 lecturers published books, and it is expected that this year there would be 100 lecturers publishing books. “To achieve the goal, UMY built the book store which will later become UMY Press assisting academicians so sell and publish their books,” he stated.

Responsibilities of the lecturers are to share knowledge to not only their students at class but also public through their journal articles. “Books provided in the book store are academic books written by UMY’s lecturers. The book store accommodates the lecturers to publish their books, and it can be accessed by UMY’s students and other university students,” Gunawan conveyed.

However, a lot of students have not known yet the lecturers’ publication. “The book store provides 134 book titles. UMY will attempt to collaborate with huge publishers to afford various books,” he ended.

The book store also offers students various products associated in Student Entrepreneurship Business Incubator (SEBI) like t-shirts, shoes, bags, and interior decoration, key chains, stickers, pens, USB flash drives,  graduation dolls, and others.
