In order to achieve the goal of becoming a campus with World Class University, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta continues to have significant progress in QS Stars. To pursue it, UMY still has chances until June for all the requirements needed. It is expected that this half-year time can be optimized and improved quality in internal university.
This was stated by the Rector of UMY. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P, when giving his presentation in the event “Ramah Tamah Rektor” on Friday (02/02) in UMY rectorate hall. Gunawan also conveyed the entire employees of UMY that they should be optimistic to achieve the best QS Stars world ranking. “We have to be optimistic about the increase of UMY ranking this year, then we will propose for QS Stars. Therefore, I hope the head in all faculties, departments and lecturers to complete all data required by QS Stars. At the moment UMY still maintain international accreditation with five-star category facilities such as social responsibility and inclusiveness. All university element have to work together to increase the achievement of UMY,” he declared.
“UMY is still in the 4th star for Teaching and the 3rd star for Employability, so that it will be our focus to get the world’s top ranking. In addition, lecturers’ and students’ achievement also become one of the indicators in the assessment from the team. After scientific publication, foreign lecturers and students are also important in the assessment. The most important thing is that we improve internal quality to become an international standard that will be divided on QS Stars, “said Gunawan
The same ideas was also stated by Slamet Riyadi, ST., M.Sc., Ph.D. as the Head of Planning and Development Board of UMY. He said that the target of UMY in 2020 becomes the world’s 800 ranking, and we will compete with international universities which have been longer than UMY.
“We must use to have a target adjusted with the capacity we have. Not only does university have the goal, but also each faculty and department level must do. To achieve World University Rank, there are some aspects that must be fulfilled including 40 percent of academic reputation, 10 percent of employees’ reputation, 20 percent of faculty and student, 20 percent of citation per faculty, 5 percent of international student ratio and 5 percent of the of international staff, “said Slamet.
Slamet added that the increasing number of lecturers and student achievements must be improved as well from now on. Then in detail it is necessary to recap all track records of each faculty and study program. “In addition, being the top ranking of Indonesia, we must try harder to become the top international ranking. This is none other than to make our campus has the quality and deserves to get world ranking. In the future, we expect that our hard work can be increased, eliminating bad habits such as reluctant to fill in data of achievement, conducting research and dedication. This must be re-motivated in order to pursue the Young and Global campus and deserve to be a campus that has QS Stars world ranking, “he concluded.
