Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto officially inaugurated, M.P. deans, director of graduate school, and associate rector for planning and development on Wednesday (31/5) at meeting hall of A.R. Fachruddin B.
They were Dr. Akif Khilmiyah, M.Ag. (Dean of Islamic Faculty), Indira Prabasari, Ph.D. (Dean of Agricultural Faculty) Dr. Trisno Raharjo, S.H., M.Hum. (Dean of Law Faculty), Dr. Titin Purwaningsih, S.IP.,M.Si (Dean of Social and Political Science Faculty), Dr. Rizal Yaya S.E., M.Sc., Ak, CA (Dean of Economics and Business Faculty), dr. Wiwik Kusumawati, M.Kes (Dean of Medical and Health Science Faculty), Dr. Suryanto (Dean of Language Education Faculty), Sri Atmaja P. Rosyidi, S.T., MSc.Eng., Ph.D., PE (Director of Graduate School) and Dr. Mukti Fajar Nur Dewata, S.H., M.Hum (Associate Rector for Planning and Development).
In his remark, Gunawan expressed his gratitude to all deans of the previous period. “I thank to all deans of period 2013-2017. Due to your endeavor and dedication, 54 departments are accredited ‘A’ and UMY becomes one of the best private university in Yogyakarta,” he stated.
Gunawan told the new deans to prepare for future challenges. “Good luck, and we have to work hard to face high competitions among higher education institutions in both Indonesia an overseas,” he maintained.
To enhance human resources at UMY, the lecturers should be encouraged to pursue their doctoral degree. “The quality of human resources became a shortage in QS Star rating so that Board of Trustees of UMY will attempt to evolve the aspect. Our goal is that 200 lecturers hold a doctoral degree at the end of this period,” mentioned Gunawan.
Besides, Secretary of Board of Trustees Drs. Sukiman, M.A. added, “Board of Trustees will support to evolve the human resources to confront global competitions as Rector Gunawan said.”
Sukiman expected that the new deans can be responsible for their duties during their periods. “Good luck and I wish that you can do your best till 2021. The position is a mandate so you have to be responsible,” he ended.
