Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) held an Annual Work Meeting (RKT) on Thursday (27/8) at AR Fakhrudin A Building, 5th floor with the theme “Strengthening Research Resources and Institutions Towards Research Excellence University”.
Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Dr. Gunawan Budiyanto, MP., IPM conveyed some of the achievements that have been won by UMY and explained the future target of the university: A research excellence university. “In 2019-2020, the achievements that have been made by the university include receiving A-level accreditation for 27 study programs, B-level accreditation for 13 study programs, and only one study program has C accreditation. Among other Muhammadiyah universities, only UMY has reached these achievements,” he explained.
Gunawan also stated a number of university achievements, including UMY being the second best university in Indonesia by the 4ICU Rank version, An increase in the number of Scopus indexed research journals by 746, and an increase in the percentage of lecturers with doctoral degrees to 34.4 percent. “UMY’s next achievement was in cluster 2. We ranked 35th among all national universities and first in the Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah University category,” he explained.
Vice Rector for Cooperation and International Affairs, Prof. Dr. Achmad Nurmandi, M.Sc added that the achievements that have been presented must be further improved in accordance with the strategic plan towards research excellence university. “The lecturers must be more productive in writing scientific papers that are indexed by Scopus, so our future target is to increase the number of citation of scientific journals, increase the number of lecturers’ research with domestic institutions, increase the number of lecturers with doctoral degrees, and improve regional achievements, “he added.
Because the results of the RKT are in accordance with the 2020-2025 strategic policy, namely a research-excellent university, the future plans for the university are to increase superior research clusters and focus on research lecturers, continue physical development and management of research innovation centers, and strengthen research institutions within the scope of the university.
