Department of Agrotechnology of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) conducted a joint seminar at National Chiayi University (NCYU), Taiwan on Monday (23/7). The seminar was immediately led by Rector of UMY Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P. discussed ‘Tropical Farming based on Local Wisdom for Sustainability.’

At the seminar, both parties also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide scholarships, internship, exchange programs, and summer school. The MoU signing was a follow up of a visit by Prof. Maurice S. B. Ku from NCYU to UMY.

Additionally, in Taiwan, UMY parties also had a field trip to cotton and pineapple plantation to look for occasions for students to have an internship program. It was expected that the visit would enhance teacher capacity and reinforce relations of both parties.
