UMY Provides Scholarship for Prospective Doctors of Muhammadiyah

Caring of education, Indonesian prosperity, and development of Muhammadiyah, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) provides scholarship of Medical Program and Dentistry Program. The scholarship is for unprivileged students of Muhammadiyah-affiliated orphanages and Islamic boarding schools.

The Muhammadiyah doctor scholarship was announced by Vice Chancellor III of Student Affairs of UMY Sri Atmaja P. Rosyidi, S.T., MSc.Eng., Ph.D.  in a Pengajian Ramadhan 1436 H of Pimpinan Pusat Muhammadiyah (Muhammadiyah Center Organization) on Sunday (21/6) at A.R. Fachruddin B Floor 5 UMY. Sri conveyed that UMY gave the Muhammadiyah doctor scholarship for 7 students comprising of 5 students at Medical Program and 2 students at Dentistry Program. “This is the 5th Muhammadiyah doctor scholarship provided by UMY. The number of grantees elevates each year. I hope that education in Indonesia would be better by this scholarship and the grantees gain knowledge sincerely so that they can serve community,” he stated.

Furthermore, there were several phases of the scholarship. Head of Student Admission Affairs of UMY Dr. Siti Dyah Handayani, S.E. M.M. informed that the selection comprised of document selection, CBT (Computer Based Test), English test, interview, psychological test, and home visit. “There were 129 registered students on the Muhammadiyah doctor scholarship. Who passed document selection was 39 students that 28 students were from Java, and 11 students were from out of Java. Then, we selected 7 students for this scholarship. We have got 5 students for this scholarship while 2 students were outside Java and it is still in the last process of the selection,” she told.

Dyah inserted that it was the first scholarship of Dentistry Program. It was a fully funded scholarship that UMY cooperated with Health Professional Education Quality (HPEQ). “This scholarship is expected to be provided for other departments and the students will lift each year,” she continued.

Additionally, five grantees of the Muhammadiyah doctor scholarship were Siti Munfarikah (Panti Asuhan Anak Yatim Muhammadiyah Gubug Grobongan), Lailatul Hidayanti (Pondok Pesantren Al- Mu’min Muhammadiyah Tembarak Temanggung), Nurul Afiati (Pondok Pesantren Al Manar Muhammadiyah Galur Kulonprogo), Ezky Nida Adelia (Pondok Pesantren Mu’allimaat Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta), and Aryani Dewi (Panti Asuhan Anak Taman Harapan Muhammadiyah Cabang Lekong Bandung).
