Kampoeng Surocolo Goa Jepang is a tourism site located in Ngreco and Poyahan, Seloharjo, Pundong District, Bantul Regency, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. The site comprises of fifteen caves, a Japanese heritage.
On a release on Tuesday (21/8), a team of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) performing community service in the village gained data from a manager of Pokdarwis of Kampoeng Surocolo Goa Jepang that the number of visitors are few. For instance, mentioned on a manager forum on Friday, 3 August 2018, the number of visitors in July 2018 were about 1,000 people. Based on the data, the team of UMY assumed that promotion of the tourism site by marketing should be increased.
Noticing the issue, the team arranged programs under the theme of ‘Promoting Local Wisdom through Tourism’ to develop the Kampoeng Surocolo Goa Jepang. The programs comprised of journalistic training, a sharing session with Pokdarwis of Desa Wisata Kembang Arum, and a website management training. The programs were undertaken by collaboration between a team of KKN UMYY 167 Dusun Ngreco and KKN 266 Dusun Poyahan.
First, the journalistic training was conducted on Sunday (12/8) in Pendopo Poyahan with Rifki Khairul as the speaker. The training engaged youths of Ngreco and Poyahan as the participants. The training output was a writing on tourism potentials at the Kampoeng Surocolo Goa Jepang such as cultural tourism and culinary potentials. The training aimed to train them to report and write an article.
Second, the sharing session regarding the tourism development was organized on Thursday (14/8) that a manger of Pokdarwis of Desa Wisata Kembang Arum as a guest as well as a speaker. The sharing session was addressed to link between the Pokdarwis of Desa Wisata Kembang Arum management and Pokdarwis of Kampoeng Surocolo Goa Jepang management. Thus, they could discuss strategies to foster the Desa Wisata.
Last, the management website training was held on Sunday (19/8) that Yaufani Adam, S.T. acted as the speaker. The training was attended by youths and manager of Pokdarwis of Kampoeng Surocolo Goa Jepang. The website contents were writings at the journalist training and sharing session with Pokdarwis of Desa Wisata Kembang Arum. A team of UMY expected that the website could be utilized to promote the tourism site.
All of the programs may be able to enhance a marketing system and promotion in Pokdarwis of Kampoeng Surocolo Goa Jepang so that many people are attracted to the tourism site and find out potentials of Kampoeng Surocolo Goa Jepang.
