UMY Welcomes International Students to Have a Learning Express Program

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) welcomed 23 students of Singapore Polytechnic (SP) to have a Learning Express (Lex) program and they would be accompanied by 23 students of UMY. The program was officially opened by Vice Rector for Cooperation and International Affairs.

In his welcoming remark, Prof. Nurmandi stated that Singapore Polytechnic and UMY will expand their cooperation such as conducting an internship program. “I expect that Singapore Polytechnic and UMY can always collaborate,” he wished.

Besides, one of the Lex program facilitators Widyasmoto, S.T., M.Sc. informed that the Lex program would be organized for three weeks. “The program is carried out from 24 September to 5 October. The students will perform the program in two villages, Soka and Dukuh (Pundong, Bantul),” he mentioned.

During the program, the students will learn a drainage system and to weave in Soka as well as how to make banana chips and to color batik in Dukuh. “The students will observe activities in both villages. Afterwards, they will interview stakeholders to find out solution of issues in the villages,” told Widyasmoro.
