UMY Welcomes Parents / Guardians of New Students Virtually

As they enter the new academic year, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta is building virtual relations with parents/guardians of new students for the 2020/2021 school year as well as providing an introduction to campus readiness in online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. This gathering was held on Saturday (26/9) through MS Team and Youtube.

Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, Rector of UMY welcomed the parents/guardians of new students for the 2020/2021 school year as well as informed them regarding UMY’s readiness in online learning through MyKlass. “On behalf of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta academics, we welcome you to Our university, which is the best Muhammadiyah university in Indonesia and the number one private university in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. As we enter the new school year for new students in the midst of this pandemic, UMY has prepared online learning through the MyKlass application as a form of supporting facilities for student lecture activities, “he explained.

Gunawan also explained that UMY’s commitment during the pandemic was carried out in the form of community service through the UMY Serving program. “One form of UMY’s commitment to the community and academics is our UMY Mengabdi program. In this program, we distributed groceries for students and communities affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, in the 2020/2021 academic year, UMY provided scholarships to 277 students consisting of Muhammadiyah scholarships, Muhammadiyah doctor scholarships, achievement pathway scholarships, college KIP scholarships, and foreign student scholarships,” he added.

Next Dr. Sukamta, S.T., M.T., Vice Rector for Academic Affairs added that UMY also provides subsidies to students in the form of an internet quota of 50 GB every four months. “We assisted student with a subsidized quota of 50 GB that can be used for online lectures per four months. This aid will start on Monday, in collaboration with Telkomsel. Through this collaboration, students will be free to use MyKlass access without taking any data plan, “he concluded. (Sofia)
