Universitas Sam Ratulangi Manado Teams Are KRI Participants from the Furthest Area of Eastern Indonesia

Participants of Indonesia Robot Contest (KRI) 2018 have reregistered since 10 a.m. at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). This annual robot contest has been known as a prestigious event throughout the universities in Indonesia. This year, the contest is followed by 91 teams from 43 universities. Three of them are Universitas Sam Ratulangi, the teams from the furthest area of eastern Indonesia.

One of the team members Wulan informed that she along with all 18 team members and three supervisors departed from Manado on Monday (8/7) at 12 p.m. and arrived at Adisucipto International Airport at 19.00 (WIB). Then, they were picked up by the committee and were escorted to UMY dormitory (Unires).

The three teams will compete in KRSTI, KRSBI for the Wheeled Division, and KRAI. In the regional 2 contest, Universitas Sam Ratulangi won the first place at the KRSBI for the Wheeled division category, the fourth rank at the KRSTI category, and the eighth at the KRAI. The preparation for this contest has been done since last year by maintaining their health, designing the robot, and carrying out frequent robot simulation.

The fact that they are participants from the furthest area of Indonesia encourages Wulan and her team to give their best effort and to bring trophies home. Thus, they are able to bring up the name of their university. “My friends and I must do our best because we are representing our university in this national contest. Moreover, this would be our first time participating more than one category,” stated Wulan.

This Indonesia Robot Contest also becomes such a memorable experience for Wulan and her teammates as they are able to compete in KRI and get an opportunity to visit Yogyakarta for the very first time. “I myself was very excited to participate in this robot contest. Besides, I can gain a lot of knowledge and experience. This occasion is also my first time to come to Yogyakarta” she expressed.
