Vocational Programmes of Universtitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) always attempt to enhance the educational quality in national and international levels. One of the three-year programmes, Mechanical Engineering tried to gain accreditation from National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (BAN-PT) and will strive to achieve international accreditation in 2021.
On Monday (23/10) at building of K.H. Mas Mansyur of UMY, in of two assessors of BAN-PT, Director of Vocation Programmes of UMY Dr. Bambang Djatmiko, S.E., M.Si. told the goal of the program. The two assessors, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Abdul Makhsud, DEA and Suharyadi Pancono, Dipl. EL.Ing. HTL, M.T., visited UMY to access performance of Mechanical Engineering.
Bambang Djatmiko also presented strategic planning in 2021, from enhancing publication and community service to being a leading and reputable international program. “In 2020, we will focus on the enhancement of publication and community service as the implementation of the Three Principles of Higher Education (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi) and in 2021 our target is to become a leading and reputable international program,” he declared.
Meanwhile, Head of International Relations Office (IRO) of UMY Yodan Gunawan stated that UMY has been cooperating with foreign parties in various areas. For instance, UMY particularly Program of Mechanical Engineering cooperates to conduct an internship and credit transfer program.
Indeed, Head of the Three-Year Program of Mechanical Engineering M. Abdus Shomad, S.Sos.I., S.T., M.Eng. mentioned achievements gained by the program for the recent five years such as the winner of Aeromodelling for Outdoor Hand Launched Glider category (OHLG) and the success of undertaking Organic Fertilizer Cooperative.
