Volleyball Club of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) conducted a volleyball competition for high school students ‘Rector Cup II’ on Wednesday-Monday (25-30/4) at sport center of UMY.

Chief of the volleyball club of UMY Ahmad Almustofa stated that the competition aimed to reinforce a friendships among young volley athletes. “Many people, particularly teenagers, are interested in volleyball. Last year the volleyball competition was only for male, but this year it is for male and female. There are 25 schools joining the competition,” he informed.

Ahmad added that youths’ interest and talent should be facilitated and provided occasions to show it. “During the competition, participants compete sportively and gave their best performance. Supporters of the schools enliven the competition. Indeed, the participants and teachers welcome Rector Cup II since the volleyball competitions are rarely held in Yogyakarta,” he told.

For the male category, the winner of Rector Cup II was SMA 1 Pundong, the first runner up was SMAN I Sayegan and the second runner up was SMA Tanjungsari. Meanwhile, the female category, the winner was SMAN 4 Yogyakarta, the first runner up was SMA Tanjungsari and the second runner up was SMAN I Sayegan. “We expect that this competition becomes an annual event and triggers youths to enhance their abilities,” hoped Ahmad.
